About the Cover

Kazimir Malevich’s Tochil’schik Printsip Mel’kaniia, or The Knifegrinder (1912–13), exemplifies the fragmentation of forms characteristic of futurism and echoes the superposition of states characteristic of quantum mechanics. On page 36 , Tim Langen describes dipolar supersolids, a class of quantum materials that are simultaneously solid and superfluid. On page 44 , Peter Lodahl, Arne Ludwig, and Richard Warburton describe how advances in quantum materials are leading to new applications in quantum computation.
