Similar to humans who struggle to understand a conversation at a noisy gathering, frogs in loud environments sometimes misidentify vocalizations in their vicinity. Some frogs, including the red-eyed tree frog from Central America, shown here, solve the cocktail party problem by having males make their calls louder than the background noise.
