Toni Feder is a senior editor at Physics Today. She has been writing news for the magazine since 1996. She focuses on the news around physics—policy, people, funding, education, facilities, and more. She also mentors newcomers and interns, and sometimes edits. For her undergraduate senior thesis (at the University of California, Santa Cruz) she studied the aurora borealis, after which she spent time at the Auroral Observatory in Tromsø, Norway. She earned her PhD in physics at Cornell University and did a postdoc at the Technical University of Munich; her graduate and postgraduate work was in biophysics.
