UK academics warn that an immigration cap could hurt science

Press Association : Before it was elected to power in May, Britain’s Conservative Party pledged to limit the number of non-EU immigrants to 24 100 a year. Eminent scientists, including the two UK-based Russians who won this year’s physics Nobel, are warning the government that the cap, if enacted, would harm the UK’s science enterprise. The government has already lifted the cap for one class of immigrant: Premier League soccer players.
