The physics of solar sails

guardian.co.uk : While sailing remains a purely Earth-bound pursuit for now, it could one day be the means of propulsion for hitherto impossible space missions. Speaking at the British Science Festival in Guildford, Colin McInnes of Strathclyde University described the physics and feasibility of solar sailing , which harnesses the “pressure” of the sun’s radiation.
