JAN 12, 2010
Physics Today
latimes.com : Massoud Ali-Mohammadi , 50, was described by colleagues as a respected Tehran University physicist. Reformist websites and two students also described him as an outspoken supporter of opposition figure Mir-Hossein Mousavi.Earlier this morning he was killed when a large explosion destroyed his car and shattered windows for 150 to 300 feet around the vehicle, say witnesses.Hard-line Iranian officials immediately blamed Israel and the West for the assassination, which came at a time of heightened tension over Iran’s nuclear program. Some nuclear physics students at Tehran University told the LA Times that they believed he was killed because of his outspoken support for the student and opposition movements. His published research papers are not directly related to nuclear weapons research.
