WASHINGTON, Feb. 18--The Optical Society(OSA) today announced the launch of its new online products database, the Green Photonics Guide. The searchable guide contains a directory of environmentally-friendly optics and photonics products and services spanning all aspects of the industry, from fiber optics and components to sensors and laser accessories. The purpose of the guide is to give buyers an easy-to-use portal designed specifically for optics and photonics professionals who are interested in purchasing products and services that are environmentally sustainable.
“OSA is proud to offer its members and others in the field of optics and photonics a unique, comprehensive resource for finding the green products and services they need,” said Elizabeth Rogan, OSA executive director. “As companies look for ways to cut costs and become more efficient in their operations, OSA’s Green Photonics Guideoffers an exclusive place for industry professionals to search specifically for green optics and photonics systems and components.”
The guide, which works by continually indexing the content of participating supplier Web sites, allows targeted searches for thousands of industry-related products and services using either a user-defined keyword search or an alphabetized category and sub-category directory search. Users can also download the search tool directly to their desktops, contact participating suppliers directly by using the Request for Information function or add and edit their own product listings online.
Green Photonics Guidesupplier categories include: Business Services, Components/Subsystems, Electronic/Signal Analysis, Fiber Optics/Accessories, Imaging/Cameras/Displays, Lasers/Laser Accessories, Materials/Supplies, Sensors/Detectors, Software, Systems/Equipment and Test/Measurement. The guide is maintained by MultiView Inc., a leading publisher of online supplier directories for non-profit associations.
