Mica giant halos suggest natural superheavy elements
DOI: 10.1063/1.3023606
Evidence for the existence of element 126 and possibly numbers 116, 124 and 127 has been found in several mica samples from Madagascar, implying that these superheavy elements or their parents have been present since the Earth was formed. Most recent theoretical work had predicted an island of stability centered around element 114.
