New York Times: Leonardo Mascheroni, a physicist at Los Alamos National Laboratory, and his wife Marjorie Mascheroni were arrested last Friday in their home in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The couple faces charges that they sold classified information about nuclear weapons to an FBI agent who was posing Venezuelan spy. Although the Venezuelan government is prospecting for uranium, it has denied planning to develop nuclear weapons. In indicting the Mascheronis, the US government did not accuse the Venezuelan government or its agents of espionage.
The finding that the Saturnian moon may host layers of icy slush instead of a global ocean could change how planetary scientists think about other icy moons as well.
