The work of T.H. Berlin in statistical mechanics …a personal reminiscence

OCT 01, 1964
Theodore H. Berlin was a professor at the Rockefeller Institute until his death in November 1962. At the March 1964 meeting in Philadelphia of the American Physical Society, two sessions of invited papers were given in Dr. Berlin’s memory. The speakers included S. A. Goudsmit, Leon Madansky, Kasimir Fajans, E. W. Montroll, C. N. Yang, Joseph Ford, and Mark Kac, whose address is printed below. Although Dr. Berlin contributed to many fields of theoretical physics, his main interest was statistical mechanics.

I am grateful for the opportunity to pay tribute to the memory of Theodore H. Berlin.
