Publishing activities continued to grow, and efficient information retrieval is a step closer. Meanwhile, concern deepened over decreasing federal support and the looming job shortage.

TRENDS BECAME REALITIES, and 1968’s plans turned into 1969’s achievements. This was the kind of year it was for the American Institute of Physics, as procedures started or planned during 1968 matured and tendencies observed earlier showed up more strongly.
