Masers, rasers, growth of whiskers—these were among the things discussed at the 1958 meeting of the Midwest Solid‐State Physics Conference, which was held on November 1 at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. Some seventy persons were in attendance, representing institutions in six midwestern states.
