Joint meeting goes West

The “New York meeting” has wound its way to San Francisco. Special symposia on energy, politics, education and jobs will highlight the four‐day APS–AAPT program.

This year the joint annual meeting of The American Physical Society and the American Association of Physics Teachers will be in San Francisco for the first time. What will be special about this meeting other than its location? This is the first year that the new APS Forum on Physics and Society has participated; three symposia have been arranged by the group. Energy sources and production will be the topic at two other related sessions. And two sessions, one organized by AAPT and the other by APS, will deal with alternative directions for physics education.
