Education and employment of physicists

Teaching and research in physics are activities carried on by people, so that any one or any organization interested in the contributions of this science must be concerned with the number of people involved. The number of students being trained to each academic degree level should be known and, if possible, related to the ways in which employers of physicists will want to use their services.
