Zeeman Effect Determines Interstellar Magnetic Fields

The first direct measurement of the interstellar magnetic field in our galaxy has raised the question of why the field is stronger in other spiral arms than it is in our own. Despite its limitations he data give theorists new parameters for the frequently invoked role of magnetic fields in galactic dynamics and stellar evolution.
