Britain’s venerable Royal Society is following the example of its US counterpart, the National Academy of Sciences, in making its online archive of journals freely available. Among the papers you can download from The Royal Society Digital Journal Archive is James Clerk Maxwell’s “A Dynamical Theory of the Electromagnetic Field,” which appeared in Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London, volume 155, page 459 (1865).
