Christian Science Monitor: A new video game for the Xbox Kinect allows players to simulate landing NASA’s Curiosity rover on the surface of Mars. The actual vehicle, which was launched on 26 November 2011, is on schedule to land on 5 August. To celebrate the mission, NASA collaborated with Microsoft to develop the Mars Rover Landing game. “Families can get a taste of the daring that’s involved in this, just landing this mission on the surface,” said Doug McCuistion, director of NASA’s Mars Exploration Program. Available for free download, the game is an outreach project to raise awareness of Curiosity’s mission and NASA’s planetary exploration efforts.
