US energy secretary interviewed at climate change conference in Paris

DEC 08, 2015
Physics Today

NPR : At the 2015 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Paris, NPR’s Ari Shapiro asked US energy secretary Ernest Moniz about how the negotiations have been going. Moniz says that not only the US but a majority of countries recognize that climate change is happening and that greenhouse gas emissions need to be reduced. He says “the clock is ticking” and the world must concentrate on mitigation and adaptation. When asked about the effort of US Republicans to undermine President Obama’s clean energy plans, Moniz replied that technology innovation has strong bipartisan support. He also noted the dramatic cost reductions in renewables, LEDs, and electric vehicle batteries.
