US Air Force starts cybersecurity audit

APR 03, 2015
Physics Today

FCW : According to US Air Force CIO Bill Bender, roughly 80% of the air force’s assets, from weapons systems to program offices, are vulnerable to cyberattack. He made the comments on 2 April at the AFCEA Cybersecurity Technology Summit. In response, a task force will spend a year conducting an audit of all air force assets and determining how best to protect them. The other 20%, mainly IT networks, have already been hardened against attack. The project will help the air force estimate how much it will need to spend on IT security going forward. The US Navy launched a similar scheme six months ago.
