UK close to signing deal for new nuclear power station

OCT 07, 2013
BBC : The UK is set to sign a contract for the country’s first power-generating nuclear reactor since Sizewell B, which was completed in 1995. The new reactor will be built at Hinkley Point in South West England alongside a magnox reactor, which was closed down in 1999, and an advanced gas-cooled reactor, which is still generating electricity. The new reactor, Hinkley Point C, will be a pressurized water design built by EDF of France. Although the UK government granted EDF a building permit in March, work has been delayed because of negotiations over the price EDF would be allowed to charge.
