Slate: This week, Al Gore makes his action-hero debut in the movie An Inconvenient Truth. For a moment, let’s not call the subject of the film climate change, or even global warming. Let’s call it the most extensive science experiment of all time. It’s been going on since the start of the Industrial Revolution. The entire planet serves as the lab. And you and 6.5 billion other people are the citizen-scientists working on itâmdash;oh, and the guinea pigs, too.
The finding that the Saturnian moon may host layers of icy slush instead of a global ocean could change how planetary scientists think about other icy moons as well.
