Russia may decrease number of cosmonauts on the ISS

AUG 18, 2016
Physics Today

Ars Technica : Since 2009, the crew size aboard the International Space Station (ISS) has remained relatively steady with a regular complement of six: three from Russia and three from the US and the other international partners. According to Russian media reports that were confirmed by NASA on 15 August, Roscosmos plans to reduce its crew size so that it can launch fewer resupply missions, thereby reducing overall costs for supporting the station. The media reports say that Roscosmos plans to spend about $4.1 billion total between 2016 and 2025, which is just a little more than NASA spends on the ISS every year.
