Planting crops that reflect sunlight could mitigate global warming

Daily Mail : A group of scientists in the UK has proposed planting crops that reflect sunlight as one method to counter global warming. “Our current studies on crop reflectivity are at an early stage, but our initial results are really encouraging, as they suggest that simply by choosing to plant specific strains of crops, we could alter the reflectivity of vast tracts of land and significantly reduce regional temperatures,” said lead researcher Joy Singarayer from the University of Bristol. The findings were discussed at the Royal Society discussion meeting Geoengineeringâmdash;Taking Control of Our Planet’s Climate , which took place 8â9 November.
