Obama’s India trip fosters US-India science ties

Science : Discussion of a possible joint human spaceflight project was one of the outcomes of President Obama’s recent 3-day visit to India. The US also agreed to relax certain export controls affecting Indian defense and space facilities. At a special session of the Indian Parliament Monday, Obama spoke of US-India ties as an “indispensable and defining relationship of the 21st century,” writes Pallava Bagla for Science. Obama acknowledged India’s contributions to science and backed India’s demand for a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.
