Number of earthquakes in Oklahoma keeps rising

NPR : Oklahoma rang in the New Year with a magnitude 4.2 earthquake on 1 January. Earlier that week more than a dozen earthquakes had been recorded. In fact, the number of earthquakes in the state has been rising astronomically in recent years, making it one of the most earthquake-prone areas in the world . In 2012 there were just a few dozen of magnitude 3.0 or greater; in 2015, the number skyrocketed to more than 800. Because many of the earthquakes occur near natural gas and oil wastewater disposal wells, state legislators have called for modifying the wells and reducing the volume of fluids pumped into them.
