Physics Today

New York Times : On 7 July, Brian Deese, a senior adviser to President Obama, announced a new initiative to widen access to solar power. The plan includes tripling the amount of solar and other renewable energy systems installed in federal subsidized housing by 2020, making it easier to obtain loans for installing home solar panels, and starting a program to provide solar energy to renters. The initiative, part of Obama’s larger efforts to combat climate change, has already obtained $520 million in commitments from local governments, investors, and charities.
