Huffington Post: In honor of the 22nd anniversary of the launch of the Hubble Space Telescope next week, the Hubble science team unveiled a stunning panoramic view of the Tarantula nebula. The photo is actually a colossal mosaic of images covering an area about 650 light-years across. The Tarantula nebula, which is located 170 000 light-years from Earth, is “the brightest star-forming region in our galactic neighborhood and home to the most massive stars ever seen,” Hubble telescope officials wrote in an image description. It has long been studied by astronomers to see how stars are born and evolve.
