SEP 19, 2008

Science : Problems with a key sensor could further delay the first flight of a troubled $12.5 billion U.S. weather and climate satellite program. Science has learned that the technical problems not only threaten the planned June 2010 inaugural launch of the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellite System (NPOESS) but also could imperil the satellites’ ability to collect reliable climate measurements during the next decade.
