More pictures means more unusual features on Pluto’s surface

SEP 25, 2015
Physics Today

Nature : Yet again, the latest images downloaded from New Horizons reveal unusual and unexpected details of Pluto’s surface. The images show a region covered by ridges that are several kilometers long and dusted with rust-colored material. Because the ridges are generally all running in the same direction, it is likely that they were formed by a single primary phenomenon, such as wind. The images, which were taken by the Ralph instrument, were enhanced to emphasize the colors of the different materials on Pluto’s surface.
