Miklos Porkolab, Dmitri Ryutov to receive distinguished career awards

Miklos Porkolab (MIT) and Dmitri Ryutov (LLNL) have been selected by Fusion Power Associates Board of Directors to receive FPA’s 2010 Distinguished Career Awards. The Awards will be presented at Fusion Power Associates annual meeting and symposium, December 1-2 in Washington, DC.In selecting Prof. Porkolab, the FPA Board recognizes his decades of career contributions to fusion research and development, including his pioneering contributions to wave-particle interactions, plasma heating and diagnostics development and the leadership he has provided to the MIT and world fusion programs.

In selecting Dr. Ryutov, the FPA Board recognizes his decades of career contributions to fusion research and development in both the U.S. and former Soviet Union, including his many innovative and stimulating contributions across a broad spectrum of fusion concepts and issues.

Fusion Power Associates Distinguished Career Awards have been given annually since 1987 to individuals who have made distinguished lifelong career contributions to fusion development. A list of previous recipients is posted at http://fusionpower.org and click on Awards.
