Massive stones found buried in super henge near Stonehenge

SEP 08, 2015
Physics Today

The Telegraph : Durrington Walls is one of the largest known henges , with a diameter of nearly 500 meters, and is just a few kilometers from Stonehenge. Ground-penetrating radar has revealed 90 massive stones arranged in a C shape buried under the henge. Each is nearly 4.6 meters tall, the size of the stones present at Stonehenge. At some point the stones were knocked over and buried. The purpose of the site is still unknown. Archaeologists had thought that Durrington Walls was the home for the builders of both Stonehenge and the nearby Wood Henge, but the presence of the stones suggests that it is older than previously thought.
