Kim Weaver

Today is the birthday of astronomer Kim Weaver who was born in 1964 in Morgantown, West Virginia. Weaver is a researcher in x-ray astronomy and currently works at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and Johns Hopkins University. She has worked primarily with the Chandra X-ray Telescope studying starburst galaxies and black holes. In 1996, she was awarded the Presidential Early Career Award, which honors outstanding researchers at the outset of their careers. She has also published a popular science book on examining the universe with x-ray telescopes.
