India to launch prototype of reusable launch vehicle

Aviation Week : The Indian Space Research Organization plans to launch an unmanned, suborbital vehicle later this summer. The Reusable Launch Vehicle Technology Demonstrator (RLV-TD) is a 1.5-ton, winged vehicle that will be launched to an altitude of 70 km and then return to Earth and land in the Indian Ocean. The flight will be testing various design features of the craft, including its hypersonic aerodynamics, thermal shielding, avionics, control system, and mission management system.
