Helen Warner Prize

George W. Preston, III, of the Lick Observatory has been named to receive the 1965 Helen B. Warner Prize of the American Astronomical Society. The award is presented each year to a scientist under 35 years of age who has made a significant contribution to astronomy during the five years preceding the award. Dr. Preston was honored for his work in observational astrophysics, particularly on the spectra, atmospheric phenomena, and population characteristics of the RR Lyrae stars, and on the spectroscopic interpretation of the RV Tauri and semiregular variables.
