Future Physics Teachers Scholarships Offered

The American Association of Physics Teachers is offering three $2,000 scholarships for future high-school physics teachers. This scholarship, supported by an endowment funded by Barbara Lotze, is available only to U.S. citizens attending a U.S. school. Undergraduate students in, or planning to enter, physics teacher preparation curricula and high-school seniors planning to enter such curricula are eligible.
The American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) is offering three $2,000 scholarships for future high-school physics teachers. This scholarship, supported by an endowment funded by Barbara Lotze, is available only to U.S. citizens attending a U.S. school. Undergraduate students in, or planning to enter, physics teacher preparation curricula and high-school seniors planning to enter such curricula are eligible.
Successful applicants, will receive a stipend of up to $2,000 plus a one-year, free AAPT membership, including The Physics Teacher journal. The scholarship may be granted to an individual for each of four years.
In addition, there will also be several Honorable Mention Awards which includes a one-year free AAPT Membership.
The deadline for applying for the spring 2009 award is January 1, 2009. Applications, including letters of recommendation and transcript, received by this date will be considered for recommendation by the AAPT Executive Board at the AAPT Winter Meeting in February, 2009.
