Los Angeles Times: With 22% of energy in the US being used by electrical lighting, any reduction of lightbulb energy use could be a major energy saver. An international team has published a technique that could reduce individual lightbulb energy use by 13%. The team proposes that a light that is “on” would cycle through being on for 67 ms and then off for 10 ms. The resulting flickering would be quicker than the human eye could detect, but the duration of the light during the on time would be more than enough for rooms to appear brightly lit.
