Los Angeles Times: A commuter in Philadelphia recently confessed to using a cell phone jammer on his daily bus ride when he felt his fellow bus riders were being too disruptive with their cell phone conversations. His confession sparked a storm of sympathetic commentary in US media last week. Nonetheless, the Federal Communications Commission issued a reminder that cell phone and GPS jammers are illegal. The FCC pointed out that jamming devices aren’t selective: 911 and other emergency calls could be jammed as well, and the range of jamming devices can extend far beyond the space the user intends to control. The FCC also warned of the potential $112 500 fine for those caught using one.
