Physics Today

The European Southern Observatory 3.6‐meter telescope obtained its first photographs of the Southern skies on 9 November. The Observatory is located in La Silla, Chile. This wide-angle view shows the prime‐focus cage; the 3.6‐meter mirror, located in the central structure, is not visible.
