Dawn spacecraft reveals more details about Ceres’s surface

Physics Today

Nature : Since the discovery by NASA’s Dawn spacecraft of mysterious bright spots on Ceres’s surface, even more curious features have been observed. Orbiting as close as 4400 km from the asteroid’s surface, Dawn has also revealed an isolated, pyramid-shaped mountain that is unusual because mountains are rare outside of fractured or geologically active areas. A pair of curved lines that run parallel to each other is yet another unexplained feature. Both features suggest that Ceres has been rather geologically active in the past.
