The Verge : The new Republican control in the Senate has led to personnel changes on Senate committees. Ted Cruz (R-TX) will chair the Senate Subcommittee on Space, Science, and Competitiveness , which oversees NASA. Cruz has had a mixed relationship with the agency: Two years ago he tried to defund NASA, but he is quoted as saying “it’s critical that the United States ensure its continued leadership in space.” Marco Rubio (R-FL) will oversee the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as chair of the Subcommittee on Oceans, Atmosphere, Fisheries, and Coast Guard. Last year Rubio told ABC’s This Week ,"I do not believe that human activity is causing these dramatic changes to our climate the way these scientists are portraying it,” he said. “And I do not believe that the laws that they propose we pass will do anything about it. Except it will destroy our economy.”
