BBC: US billionaire businessman Donald Trump is upset with the Scottish Parliament, which is considering approving an offshore wind farm in Aberdeen Bay, close to the pricey golf course he just built. When he was looking at prospective sites for his course, Trump maintains, Scotland’s former and current first ministers, Jack McConnell and Alex Salmond, had assured him that no turbines would be placed in that area. According to Trump, wind turbines are inefficient, require big subsidies to operate, kill wildlife, and damage tourism. Plus they will block his golf customers’ ocean view. The Scottish government, which is working toward supplying 100% of the country’s energy demand with renewables by 2020, insists that it made no promises to Trump and that offshore wind is “worth £30 billion ($48 billion) of investment to Scotland, and could create up to 28 000 Scottish jobs,” according to the BBC.
