US Republican presidential candidates maintain climate change skepticism

FEB 24, 2012

InsideClimate News : Despite the fact that 98% of climate scientists, some of them members of the US Republican Party, are convinced of human-induced global warming, none of the current Republican presidential candidates appears to support the scientific consensus. In fact, such support has been actively discouraged, most notably by the oil industry and powerful conservative advocacy groups. In an article for InsideClimate News, Katherine Bagley interviews five prominent conservative US climate scientists, several who identify themselves as Republican, who have made repeated but futile attempts to educate the Republican leadership on the scientific evidence of climate change. Registered Republicans, however, are not united on the issue. According to a national survey by the Pew Research Center, more than 60% of moderate and liberal Republicans believe there is solid evidence of global warming.
