Scientists refuse to participate in Nebraska climate-change study

OCT 28, 2013
Physics Today

Salon : The state government of Nebraska passed a law authorizing the state to fund research into the effects of climate change on Nebraska’s environment. However, the bill has drawn criticism from the state’s scientists because it only authorizes research into the effects of “cyclical” climate change, and not anthropogenic warming. Barbara Mayes of the National Weather Service also indicated that cyclical isn’t even a term that scientists use when describing climate. Because of the growing evidence of human influence on climate change, researchers at state universities and agencies indicated that they would not be willing to participate in the research unless it included that evidence.
