New information derived from the 1964 circularization of the National Register of Scientific and Technical Personnel with almost 0.25 million scientists reporting (this represents an increase of about ten thousand over the 1962 total), shows a further increase in median salaries amounting to about $500 a year. Median salary (not including supplemental income) for all scientists in 1964 was ll 000. The physics and astronomy group reported a median of $12 000. In both the total group and the physics‐astronomy group this was $1000 more than reported in 1962.
