College and secondary‐school teachers of science will be encouraged to participate in research projects of university and college departments this year under programs announced by the National Science Foundation in January. Grants totaling about $850 000 were made by the Foundation to 48 institutions to provide research participation programs for 350 college science teachers; the program for high‐school teachers is supported by an additional $735 000 in grants awarded to 47 institutions for 370 participants.
