Foundation Lists New Awards.
Physics Today

Sixty grants totaling $150 000 were approved in September by the Advisory Committee of Research Corporation, according to Joseph W. Barker, president of the foundation. The awards were made to forty‐nine colleges and scientific institutions in this country, Canada, and Lebanon for support of research in the physical sciences, engineering, and mathematics. Forty‐three of the current grants were made under the Frederick Gardner Cottrell program to foster academic research in the smaller colleges, and seventeen under the General Grants program which supports pioneering research. These grants, the fourth group made by the foundation this year, bring the total funds awarded by Research Corporation so far in 1953 to $428 000.
