Los Angeles Times: In a recent report, the Yale Project on Climate Change Communication says that 70% of the US population believes global warming is a reality. That number is actually about the same as in 2008, before the recession hit. Apparently, for the past five years, worries about the economy may have eclipsed climate fears. The study’s authors believe the renewed concern may be due, in part, to the record number of recent extreme weather events, including drought, heat waves, and violent storms. The report also says that more than half the US population believes global warming is caused by humans and that a growing number feel it is already harming people at home and abroad.
