During the past summer at Harvard University, a team of physicists, scholars, and teachers have begun the task of redrafting a new physics course for high schools. Known as Project Physics, it is directed jointly by Gerald Holton and Fletcher G. Watson, professor of physics and professor of education, respectively, at Harvard. Development of the new course began at Harvard two years ago on a pilot basis under a Carnegie Corporation grant, and during 1963–64 the first draft of the course text was tried out successfully at two secondary schools.
