Poll reveals Americans’ decreased concern over global warming

JUL 03, 2012

Washington Post : In the minds of Americans, water and air pollution have surpassed climate change as the world’s biggest environmental problem, according to a recent US poll. Although most Americans continue to view global warming as a threat, they point to the government’s inaction as an indication that the issue has decreased in importance. The poll, conducted 13–21 June by the Washington Post and Stanford University, consisted of phone interviews of 804 adults nationwide. Although it is not surprising that Democrats and Republicans disagree about how great a role government should play in addressing global warming, the poll found that majorities of Democrats, Republicans, and independents did concur that government should limit the amount of carbon dioxide that businesses emit.
