During its annual meeting on October 19, the Council of the Oak Ridge Institute of Nuclear Studies voted to change the organization’s corporate name to Oak Ridge Associated Universities. Effective January 1, the Council’s action represents an expansion of the corporation’s activities beyond those related to nuclear energy. The membership of ORAU will be made up of the 40 universities and colleges that sponsor ORINS, each of which will contribute one representative to a council which, in turn, will elect an administrative Board of Directors. ORINS will continue its contractual relationships with the Atomic Energy Commission and other government agencies as an operating unit of the new organization.
